Moffett Bernard “Bernie” May, 82, of Westminster passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Carroll Hospice Dove House.
Born August 8, 1934, in Alvon, WV, he was the son of the late Moffett Bernard and Mildred (McCoy) May. He was the loving husband of Nancy L (Kettler) May, his wife of 62 years.
He was a US Army veteran and a 36 year member of the American Legion, Carroll Post #31. He was an electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 55 ½ years. He helped build and install power to the science building at McDaniel College.
Bernie had a passion for antique carnival glass which he collected for 30 years. He loved to travel with his wife, especially by train. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter and son-in-law Pam May and Brian Baublitz of Hunt Valley; son Alan May of Conowingo; granddaughter Anja Elise Baublitz of Hunt Valley; sister and brother-in-law Betty Ann and George Joh of Santa Fe, NM. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Please use the chapel entrance.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24th at 10:00 am, at the funeral home, with Rev. Joan Evans officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in West Friendship.
