Graveside services for Charles Louis Myrick, 69, Calhoun, Ga., with full military honors, will be at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Ga. He went to be with Jesus on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 in Kindred Hospital of Rome.. Charles was born on April 16, 1945, in New Albany. He was the son of the late Ovidio Joseph Myrick and Mary Thelma Chaney Myrick. He loved his Lord and his county. He served in the United States Navy for six years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and worked as a project engineer in commercial construction. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, former Scoutmaster and a member of The Order of the Arrow. He was also an electrician and a member of the IBEW Local 24, Baltimore, Md.. He was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church and has been a resident of Gordon County for three years.. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol Lee Myrick, who he married in 1966 in Baltimore, Md.; daughter, Cynthia Lynn Worsham and her husband, Benjamin Allen Worsham, Calhoun, Ga.; son, Charles Louis Myrick Jr. and his wife, Allison, Alpharetta, Ga.; three brothers, William Myrick and his wife, Christine, Lanesville, Philip Myrick, Georgetown, and Timothy Myrick and his wife, Debbie, Lanesville; one sister, Rita Myrick Yates and her husband Steve, New Albany; four grandchildren, Catherine Verda Worsham, Rebecca Lynn Worsham, Benjamin Issac Worsham and Carol-Ann Grace Worsham; and his beloved dog, Diesel.. Visitation was Sunday and Monday at Thomas Funeral Home, Calhoun, Ga.. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Gideons' at Belmont Baptist Church, 275 W. Belmont Dr., Calhoun, GA 30701.
