Born on November 11, 1931 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Herman Joseph and Evelyn Wise Preissler. He was the husband of Frances Yvonne Preissler, his wife of 48 years.

In 2012, he celebrated his 6oth anniversary of being a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and holds the title of Master Electrician. After graduating from Poly in 1951, he joined the apprentice program with the IBEW and began work for Howard P. Foley where he worked and mastered his skill. He became the youngest foreman in company history and later gained the title of General Foreman. One of his major projects was the Domino sign seen in the Baltimore skyline.

In 1968, he left Foley and went to work for Burlington Testing Company and in September of 1968 he became certified in Electrical Maintenance Testing through Multi-Amp of Crandford, N.J. In 1977 he suffered a major cardiac arrest. In 1978, the doctors at Johns Hopkins Medical Center performed the first ever 6 bypass surgery on him. He was forced to leave his job and become a stay at home dad. He still consulted with people on electrical work and assisted when possible.

He also volunteered at Uniontown Elementary school for 13 years assisting with classroom projects, working in the computer lab, and spending time molding the young minds. He enjoyed spending time gardening flowers and vegetables, reading Science Fiction and poetry, especially Edgar Allen Poe. He has designed and assisted building 3 houses. He was an avid Baltimore Raven"s fan and enjoyed watching the games.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children Herman, Jr., Carl, Karen, James, Richard, Brian, Lenore, David (Deceased), Daryl, Keith, and Joseph; brothers A. Lawrence Preissler and Bruce Preissler; and grandfather of 4.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Shamer officiating. Interment will be private.
