WOOLFORD - Ellsworth W. "Buck" Lutz, 71, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 9, 2002 at the home of his daughter near East New Market. He had been ill for six weeks.

He was born Dec. 31, 1930 at Woolford, the son of the late Otheio Leroy and Sara Linthicum Lutz.

Mr. Lutz was raised and attended public schools in Baltimore and for several years attended the Salisbury State Teachers' College. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served on active duty in the U.S. Army from January of 1952 to December of 1953. Mr. Lutz was in the Far East for 13 months.

On July 21, 1956 he married the former Lottie Belle Brannock, who passed away on Nov. 2, 1997.

For most of his working life, he was an electrician and some years ago worked for the late Handley Sherman. Until retiring in 1992, he was employed by I.B.E.W. Local 24 of Baltimore.

Among the larger projects he worked on was the Fort McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore. Since retiring, he enjoyed shooting pool, antiques and going to flea markets.

Mr. Lutz was a former member of Choptank Memorial Post 7460, VFW; the Cambridge Elks Lodge; and Cambridge Moose Lodge.

He is survived by one daughter, Virginia L. Spellman and one son, Gregory L. Lutz, both of East New Market; three grandchildren: Jessica C. Spellman, Bryan L. Spellman and Gregory "Lindy" Lutz Jr.; one uncle, Billy Linthicum, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lutz was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Lutz and three sisters: Doris Smith, Jean Herbert and Nancy Lee Brown.

A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge by the Rev. Mark Farnell. Burial will take place in Old Trinity Churchyard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home tonight from 7:30 to 9.
