CHARLES W. "WOODY" McNEMAR, 65, of 519 Brown Avenue, Hagerstown, MD, died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital. Born January 25, 1944 in Martinsburg, WV, he was the son of the late Woodrow W. and Rose G. Hewett McNemar. He was a 1962 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. He attended Shepherd University for two years. Woody served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1970. He was a member of the St. Andrews United Methodist Church from 1956 to present date. He was president of Washington and Fredrick Counties AFL-CIO Council for 29 years; former officer of the IBEW Local 24, out of Baltimore, for 22 years and business manager for 6 years, he was a member of the IBEW Local 24 for 37 years; area vice president of Maryland and DC CIO; executive board member for Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO for 35 years; President of Central Maryland Council AFL-CIO for 29 years; Baltimore Building Trades Council AFL-CIO for 6 years; MOSH Board for 10 years; director for Career Studies Center for State of Maryland for 6 years; West End Little League for 30 years; Big Brothers Board for 6 years; Boys Club for 6 years; United Way for 15 years; State Board of Education for 6 years. Woody was a life time member of the AMVETS post 10; life time member of the Red Men Williamsport; a member of the Moose of Martinsburg and Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Potomac Lodge 31. Woody is survived by his significant other, Connie Jones and her family; three daughters, Pamela McNemar of Laurel, DE, Donna Reichert and husband, Marty and Serena McNemar all of Hagerstown, MD; three grandsons, Matthew Reichert, Zachery Jones, Jeffrey Caniford, Jr., and great grand son, Levi Michael; one granddaughter, Lacey Reichert; one sister, Patricia McNemar of Hagerstown, MD; one brother, Michael McNemar and wife, Charlene of Martinsburg, WV; two nephews, James McNemar and Mitchell McNemar; three great nieces, Rose McNemar, Niki McNemar and Ella McNemar. He was preceded in death by one sister, Rose McNemar. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. C. Michael Henning will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the AMVETS Post 10.
