MYRTLE BEACH | Marvin Harry Smith, 86, died Monday, January 5, 2009 at Grand Strand Health Care.

Mr. Smith was born in Cumberland, Maryland, a son of the late Harry and Edith Smith.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Mr. Smith was a retired Electrician and was with the IBW Union Local 24. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

Survivors include a son, Harry Smith and his wife, Ann, of Surfside Beach; and a granddaughter, Anita Linkous of Baltimore, Md.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his wife, Iva Jean Everette Smith.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Funeral Home.
