Mr. Richard Arthur Peddicord, 80, of Woodsboro Road, Frederick, died Friday, July 6, 2007, at Northampton Manor Nursing Center, Frederick, after an extended illness.


Born on November 20, 1926, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Charles William Sr. and Frances Selway Peddicord. He was the husband of Margaret Marie Green Peddicord, his wife of 29 years.


Mr. Peddicord was a 1944 graduate of Mt. Airy High School and attended Mergenthaler Vocational School for four years. He was a lifelong electrician in the metropolitan and Frederick areas, retiring in 1988.-- He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Libertytown, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, National Electrical Workers and Maryland Electrical Industry Local 24 of Baltimore. Mr. Peddicord was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and traveling.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Phelps of Unionville and Louise Joy of Frederick; a brother, Thomas E. Peddicord of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Anna Peddicord of Westminster and Doris Bloom and husband Kenny of Union Bridge; special friends, Roger and Patty Smith of Thurmont; and a number of nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Roberts and Rita Peddicord and two brothers, Charles W. Peddicord Jr. and Ralph E. Peddicord. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at St. Peter's Parish Center, Libertytown, with the Rev. Fr. Jesse Bolger as celebrant. Interment will be in Chapel Cemetery, near Libertytown. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 9, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., where a Christian wake service will be held at 8:45 p.m. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Building Fund of St. Peter's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 278, Libertytown, MD 21762.
